Raila promises to work closely with clergy

Azimio la Umoja Presidential aspirant Raila Odinga has assured the church of a place in the management of the country’s affairs should he form the next government.

Recognizing the vital role religious leaders play in the country’s peace and harmony, Odinga said he will seek partnerships with the clergy in administrative and security issues.

Odinga addressed a gathering of independent indigenous churches on Monday at Wonder Joy grounds along Kiambu Road accompanied by his running mate Martha Karua.

It is here that they rallied the men of the cloth who also endorsed his candidature.

Similarly he noted that he shall form a partnership with the church in line with the Country’s aspiration of unity under the Azimio la Umoja banner since members of the clergy play a key role in a cohesive society.

Odinga underscored the role played by women in leadership even as he hailed his running mate Martha Karua for her role in good governance and democracy.

He said that Azimio administration would stamp out the culture of hand-outs by politicians which he said impoverishes the people.
