Raila lands at JKIA as welcome party turns chaotic

NASA leader Raila Odinga has landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Friday morning after his one week visit to the US.

His supporters have in the meantime defied a police directive not to march to the Airport to welcome him as directed by Siaya Senator James Orengo and former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama.

Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet was clear that JKIA is a protected area and those without any business there shall not be allowed access to the facility.

NASA supporters are now engaging police officers in running battles along Mombasa road as well as Jogoo road with officers forced to fire tear gas canisters to disperse them.

Reports indicate that the stone throwing supporters have torched down 3 vehicles along the North Airport road as they remain defiant that they must be allowed to welcome Raila back.

NASA had on Monday said Raila will receive a grand welcome, befitting a leader of his stature following his one week visit to the US.
