Raila still commands majority support in Nairobi – Tifa

Azimio la Umoja coalition Presidential candidate Raila Odinga is still the man to beat in the County of Nairobi, the latest opinion poll by Tifa Research shows.

If elections were to be held today, Tifa says Raila will lead in Nairobi County with 50pc of the vote followed by United Democratic Alliance candidate William Ruto with 25pc while George Wajackoyah will emerge third with 7pc support.

“This clear popularity-gap of both ODM and Azimio is also reflected in the support distribution for the main presidential candidates, with ODM’s Raila Odinga’s at twice the level of UDA’s William Ruto (50% vs. 25%).” The agency noted

The Nairobi County Poll Ratings had been commissioned to gauge the popularity of candidates seeking the positions of Governor, Senator, Woman Rep & President.

As regards the City gubernatorial contest, Senator Johnstone Sakaja of UDA still leads his main opponent in the race – Jubilee’s Polycarp Igathe by 40pc against 32pc. The gap between the two has however shrunk when compared to the ratings two months ago.

By comparison, ODM’s Edwin Sifuna’s popularity rating is three times that of UDA’s Bishop Margaret Wanjiru (27pc vs. 9pc) in the Nairobi Senatorial race.

The firm further established that nearly two-thirds of Nairobians are undecided about who to vote for in the August 9, 2022, general elections.
