Former director of public prosecution Sharan Rao has challenged suspended Athletics Kenya officials to show up and prove to him that they are innocent.
The three officials were banned for 180 days from taking part in any athletics event by the IAAF after allegations of subverting the anti-doping menace in the country and improper diversion from Athletics Kenya funds from NIKE.
Sharan Rao who was appointed by the ethics committee to conduct investigations on former Athletics Kenya chairman Isaiah Kiplagat, his deputy David Okeyo and Former treasurer Joseph Kinyua by IAAF Ethics committee disclosed that Qatar Association of Athletics Federation will not be involved in the investigations.
Speaking on Wednesday in an interview at his office in Nairobi, Rao said that the process is likely to be delayed by the Jamhuri and Christmas Holidays but promised a quick process after he gets adequate evidence from the investigations.
The investigations will lead to a decision on whether disciplinary charges should follow.
It is only a day now after Jack Tuwei was appointed the new Athletics Kenya Chairman by the association’s National executive Committee.
IAAF ethics committee found him culpable of receiving 2 motor vehicles from Qatar Athletics federation, and subversion of sponsorship money from Nike among other sleaze allegations.
David Okeyo and former treasurer Joseph Kinyua were suspended for soliciting bribes to cover up doping claims. The trio remain suspended for 6 months with investigations already under way.
