The Rarieda CDF committee has released Sh27 million to help in the completion of various development projects in schools within the constituency.
Speaking during the disbursement of the National Government Constituency Development Fund cheques, Rarieda MP Eng. Nicholas Gumbo called for prudent utilisation of the funds.
Gumbo took a swipe at the people who have been pushing for the abolition of CDF, stating that CDF has greatly transformed the face of this country and saved people from the burden of conducting fundraisings.
Gumbo, who reiterated the need for proper utilisation of funds, noted that this country can no longer be borrowing loans if public resources are spent prudently.
The ceremony was also attended by Rarieda Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Onyango who asked school heads to ensure they put in place proper security mechanisms to avert thefts in their respective institutions.
Mr. Onyango who cited the recent theft of computers at Masala Secondary School, told them to ensure they construct proper classrooms and employ competent security personnel to take care of their properties.
He lamented that most schools have elderly and drunkard watchmen who cannot take good care of school properties, saying this will not be condoned whatsoever.
The administrator therefore warned that he has already issued a circular to the heads that they are the ones who will be arrested and prosecuted in case of any eventuality.
