Residents of Busia decry rising insecurity as trader is killed in cold blood

Police in Busia are on the trail of a criminal gang involved in the murder of a businessman based in the area.

Alfred Obayo was shot dead inside his hotel on Monday evening by unknown gunmen. The culprits are said to have escaped using a motorbike.

Busia County commander John Nyoike says the businessman succumbed to his injuries after he was shot on the neck and stomach.

This even as Nyoike called on hotel owners to install CCTV cameras in their premises to help track suspects.
Area
residents condemned the incident calling on authorities to speed up investigations into the incident and bring to book the culprits.

Businessmen operating in the area led by Sylvanus Abangu and Dancun Kubasu urged security agencies to intensify surveillance along the Kenya-Uganda common border saying some of the firearms used by the criminals are often sneaked into the country from neighboring country.
