Ringtone Apoko quits gospel music

Ringtone joins a growing list of musicians leaving gospel music.

Yesterday, Wednesday 6th, musician Ringtone Apoko announced that he has officially quit making gospel music. In an instagram video, the self-proclaimed chairman of gospel music announced that he was leaving gospel for love songs.

Ringtone asked the secular artistes to welcome him into the industry and not to see him as a threat. “To all artistes in the secular industry, don’t take it as a completion just welcome me with an open heart so that we can take the industry to the next level,” He said, he also gave a shoutout to a few gospel artistes who he says have been supporting him: “I want to thank all the musicians in the gospel industry, the likes of Moji Short Baba, Guardian Angel and the rest, thank you for supporting me as your chair.”

Ringtone now joins other Kenyan artistes such as Bahati, Willy Paul, and Jimmy Gait who have also exited the gospel industry due to various reasons.
