The Guinness Fanzone is a platform where football and beer lovers come together to celebrate their love of football and good music over a bottle of finely brewed beer. Guinness is said to continue to sponsor the English Premier League broadcast through DSTV to ensure all football fans stay entertained.
Former Premier League football player Rio Ferdinand will be the guest of honour at this Saturday’s Guinness fan zone with Reggae artist Romain Virgo headlining the event featuring The Unit band. This is Romain’s second visit to the country. Kenyan artistes who will also make an appearance include Jua Kali, Timmy T Dat, Khaligraph Jones, Fena Gitu and Naiboi.
Early this year, Romain collaborated with King Kaka on a single on his (Kaka) recently launched Eastlando Royal album. The song he featured on, One and only, is available on Youtube. Romain also mentioned having an interest in collaborating with other Kenyan artists such as Vivian.
During a recent press conference, Romain Virgo gave insight on what inspires his music especially on his new album “Love Sick”. He mentioned he is a “hapless romantic, who loves love and the idea of love” and that’s why all his music is about love. He said, “Love is my religion and that is why I preach when I get the chance to.”
Romain also mentioned his love football and how it unites people, but he admitted he was not so good at it. The football viewing area, which will be set up at Uhuru Gardens for tomorrow, is set to have three Mega High Definition Screens and a lot of Guinness merchandise. There will also be a gaming area with top video games for fans to enjoy. Some of the matches scheduled to take place tomorrow include The Citizens vs The Toffees and Spurs vs The Clarets.
Dj Kriss Darlin will be one of the main DJs at the event which is sponsored by Toyota Kenya and Guinness.
