Rugby: KCB maul Nakuru to reach Enterprise semis

Kenya Cup rugby champions KCB advanced to the last four of the Enterprise Cup after an easy 36-18 points win over visitors Nakuru RFC Saturday at KCB Sports club, Nairobi.

Visitors Nakuru dotted first to take an early 3-0 lead in the opening minutes. Michael Wanjala responded for the bankers with the first try which was converted by Ahmed Shaban.

Stafford Abeka added two quick tries as KCB led 19-6 before the break. Francis Mwita scored another try for KCB which was converted by Michael Wanjala to leave the scores at 26-6.

KCB later on added to the score for comfortable 36-18 points win.

The bankers will break for a one week training camp from Monday before resuming for the Kenya cup semi finals where they will take on  Impala.

Meanwhile, the Kenya national rugby sevens team will play France in the challenge trophy quarterfinals Sunday after missing out on a main cup quarterfinal slot.

Kenya defeated Wales in their last pool C match but had lost to England and USA in their opening two matches and dropped to the challenge trophy at the 8th leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Singapore.

Kenya had a disastrous start to the leg losing 36-7 to giants England as Bush Mwale earned Kenya the only try in the match.

Kenya then faced series leaders USA in their second match and narrowly lost 17-14 with the two tries courtesy of Daniel Taabu and Johnstone Olindi. Kenya won the final group match 19-14 against Wales.
