Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua now wants additional security following threats to his life allegedly made by Deputy President William Ruto, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and his Senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen.
Mutua who recorded a statement at Kilimani Police Station’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations offices says should anything unusual happen to him, his family, friends or associates the three should be held accountable.
Dr Mutua alleges the threats on his life occurred at State House Nairobi.
Mutua claims he was threatened on two separate occasions over his comments on national issues.
He says the first incident occurred on November 25th, when President Uhuru Kenyatta received the Building Bridges Initiative Taskforce report.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader says the second threat was made on the evening of December 11th during a banquet in honour of Barbados Prime Minister Mia Motley.
Mutua is now seeking additional security and maintains the three individuals should be held accountable if anyone happens to him.
According to the Machakos Governor, the threats could be linked to his ambitions to vie for the top seat come 2022.
He said he recorded a statement at Kilimani Police Station under OB No. 50/16/12/2019.
