Samburu insecurity: Concern as two people are killed in separate incidents

Police in Samburu County have launched investigations into the murder of a boda boda rider and a nine-year-old boy who were shot dead in two separate incidents on Monday.

The minor died on the spot after a bullet caught him on the chest while herding livestock at Natiti area in Samburu North. A bodaboda rider and his passenger were later attacked in what is believed to be a revenge attack.

According to Simon Kanguro, a clinical officer at Baragoi sub-county hospital, the rider succumbed to a bullet wound on his head while his passenger was also injured.

“The boda boda man succumbed to bullet injury, he was shot on the left side of the head from behind.” He said.

The clinical officer said the pillion passenger was received at the hospital with an injury on the left shoulder.

“The victim is stable and out of danger she has a soft tissue injury but we have admitted her in the hospital for further treatment.” He said.

The killing of the two persons has angered area residents who wants those who orchestrated the attacks arrested and brought to justice.

“These people have killed someone who was working to earn a living after killing a boy who was looking after his family livestock. Please intervene and help us here in Baragoi, we have been living in peace.”  Chobo Lolkolonyei, a resident appealed.

Area residents now want security agencies to enhance security in the area that has suffered from insecurity for years.
