See who received the greatest honours at Soul Train Awards

Another virtual awards ceremony.

The Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show which honors the best in African-American culture music and entertainment. It takes its name ‘Soul Train’ from an American music-dance television program which aired for 35 years.

This year’s Soul Train awards that went down yesterday, saw Chris Brown emerge as the top winner bagging 12 awards. The virtual ceremony was hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell. It was a fantastic line-up of special performances, unforgettable moments, and special appearances from some of today’s hottest artists and entertainers. Singer Brandy gave a stellar performance and Monica was honoured for her outstanding career achievements

Best R&B/soul male artist: Chris Brown

Best collaboration performance: Chris Brown & Young Thug, “Go Crazy”

Rhythm & bars award: Megan Thee Stallion, “Savage”

Best dance performance: Chris Brown & Young Thug, “Go Crazy”

Best gospel/inspirational award: Kirk Franklin

The Ashford & Simpson songwriter’s award: H.E.R., “I Can’t Breathe”

Lady of Soul award: Monica

Soul Train certified award: Brandy

Best new artist: Snoh Aalegra
