A semi-trailer truck has lost control and plunged into the Indian Ocean as it attempted to board the MV Kilindini ferry.
Kenya Ferry Services Managing Director Bakari Gowa said the truck got stuck at the prows of the ferry before plunging into the ocean, though no injuries or deaths were reported.
Two days ago, a similar incident occurred when a tour bus slid off the ferry Ramp into the waters.
The semi-trailer carrying tiles from Tanzania plunged into the ocean at 4:15am.
According to Hassan Shaban, the front tires of his truck got stuck at the ramp and couldn’t move.
Shaban said he stepped out of the truck to alert the coxswain before his truck slid and plunged into the ocean.
The Kenya Ferry Services said the accident was caused by low tides and not the slippery ramp as earlier reported.
Gowa urged ferry users to familiarize themselves more with using the Liwatoni footbridge to help curb accidents along the channel.
