SHA to oversee continued implementation of Linda Mama program

The Linda Mama program under SHA will offer enhanced benefits, including comprehensive care for expectant mothers during their pregnancy and delivery. The program will also cater for any complications that may arise during childbirth.

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has reaffirmed its commitment to maternal and child health through the continued implementation of the Linda Mama program as the country transitions from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

In a statement, SHA Acting CEO Elijah Wachira assured the public of seamless transition of the program to ensure the quality of care given to mothers remains uninterrupted.

Wachira stated that the Linda Mama program will offer enhanced benefits, including comprehensive care for expectant mothers during their pregnancy and delivery.

The program will also cater for any complications that may arise during childbirth as well as provide postnatal care for both mother and child.

The Linda Mama program has provided care to 7.5 million expectant mothers since its inception in 2013.

In the last financial year alone, 1 million mothers benefitted from the program, with more than 70% of these deliveries taking place in public healthcare facilities.,

“Mothers and mothers to be are encouraged to continue accessing these essential services at the nearest healthcare facility/ hospital,” said Wachira.

“The Linda Mama program, which has been instrumental in providing crucial maternal and child health services, will ensure mothers get enhanced benefits seamlessly under the management of the Social Health Authority,” he added.
