Shujaa fail to qualify for Dubai sevens semi-finals

A last minute try and conversion from Andrew Knewstubb denied the Kenya National Sevens team the chance to qualify for the Dubai Sevens semi finals, after they lost 12-14 to New Zealand.

Shujaa came into this match without Collins Injera who suffered a hamstring injury Friday.

New Zealand quickly took the lead through Dylan Collier, before Eden Aguero equalized.

Sammy Oliech extended Shujaa’s lead to take the game to half time.

However Shujaa missed out on a chance to qualify for the semi finals in the 1st leg of the IRB sevens world series, losing 12-14 as Andrew Knewstubb chipped the ball and brilliantly collected it for a try, sending the All Blacks to the Semis where they’ll take on England, who beat Australia 26-19.

Shujaa, meanwhile will take on Australia in the 5th place Semi-Final at 2pm.

In other quarter final results, defening champions South Africa qualified for the Cup quarter finals after beating Samoa 26-10. Fiji beat Scotland 35-24.
