The Kenya Rugby National Men’s Sevens team, Shujaa has intensified their preparations as they continue with their training at the Kasarani National stadium ahead of the two Spanish legs of the HSBC World Sevens Series.
The training camp which kicked off on 3rd January will run until they depart to Spain for the Malaga 7s and Seville 7s tournaments on 21st – 23rd and 28th – 30th January respectively.
Kenya will be seeking to improve on her performance at the opening two legs of the series held in December in Dubai where 2016 Singapore 7s winners collected a total of 22 points to lie 8th on the standings.

Team head coach Innocent Simiyu has five new call-ups in his squad; Kenya Simbas internationals Jone Kubu, John Okoth, Timothy Okwemba and Derrick Ashihundu and Kenya Under-20 international Richel Wangila.
In the Malaga tournament, Shujaa has been pooled alongside France, Canada and Wales in Pool D. The team will kick off the action against Canada on Friday 21st January at 1:22pm followed by their fixture against Wales at 6:28pm to wrap up their day one action. On Saturday 22nd, they will finish off their pool matches at 1:49pm against France.
In Malaga, the series returns to a traditional 16-team format for the first time in two years after experimenting with 12 teams for the first two legs of the new season due to the Covid-19 pandemic

Kenya Sevens is currently placed eighth in the 2021/22 World Sevens Series rankings with 22 points.
