Shujaa ready for Fiji in opening match for Vancouver 7s

Shujaa now focus on the Vancouver Sevens, where it shall kick off the campaign with a match against Fiji, before facing off against Samoa and hosts Canada.

National sevens rugby team ‘ Shujaa’  targets to put up a brave performance when they take on powerhouse Fiji in their opening match  as the 6th leg of the 2018/2019 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series gets underway on Saturday in Vancouver Canada.

The Paul Murunga charges will face Samoa in the second match before facing hosts Canada in their last group match.

Shujaa managed to collect only five points after losing 24-7 to Spain in the USA 7’s Challenge Trophy Semi-final.

Shujaa bowed out of the Las Vegas Sevens with five points, leaving them at the 13th position on the standings on 17 points.

After losing its first Pool matches to hosts USA and France in Day 1 in Las Vegas, Shujaa, under the tutelage of Paul Murunga, redeemed itself with two successive wins in Day 2; a 24-19 victory against Argentina in its last pool match and a 28-15 triumph over Japan in the Challenge Trophy Quarter Final.

However, a 24-7 loss to Spain in the Challenge Trophy Semifinal saw Shujaa bow out of the tournament with five points to their name.

USA leads the log on 93 points while New Zealand and Fiji complete the top three teams.
