Six perish in a grisly road accident along Bondo-Ndori road

Six people including a three year old child perished Tuesday evening in a grisly road accident that involved a matatu and a lorry near Katuju area along Bondo-Kisumu highway.

According to Rarieda Sub-County Police Commandant Everline Cherotich two people died on the spot while four others succumbed to injuries while being rushed to Bondo sub county hospital.

Cherotich stated that the two vehicles collided head on when the lorry which was moving towards Bondo town swerved to avoid hitting a pick up van that had lost control but instead it collided with the matatu which was heading to Kisumu.

The area police boss said that they could not immediately determine how many passengers were in the matatu as some had been removed and taken to various hospitals for emergency treatment before the police had arrived at the accident scene.

She urged other road users to be extra cautious when approaching the spot saying that another accident that claimed one life on the same spot which occurred last weekend.

Meanwhile, a somber mood has engulfed Bondo Sub-County Hospital after Doreen Ang’asa, the facility laboratory manager perished in the road accident.

Colleagues at the hospital who are yet to come to terms with her demise described her as a humble team leader who had a listening ear for everyone around her.
