Six suspects are in custody and are expected to appear in court on Thursday after they arrested during a drugs raid along Mathare river.
According to National Police Service the raids were conducted at Bridgestone and Columbia areas along Mathare river Wednesday evening by officers drawn from Starehe Sub-County under the command of Starehe Sub-County Police Commander William Sirengo and assisted by OCS Mathare Police Station.
Police say the areas had become a hub of drug peddling, drug abuse and illegal gambling activities, and the raid was aimed at dismantling these dens which had become a nuisance in the neighborhoods.

At the end of the operation, six suspects were apprehended as others managed to evade arrest.
The extent of the notoriety in the dens was evident as drugs, which included one kg of heroine, five kilogrames of cannabis sativa and illicit brew were recovered.
The dens also harboured several needles, alcohol pads, dagger and NSP Kits while a gambling machine was also recovered.
Police says engaging in such vices erodes the society, discouraging members of the public especially the youth from engaging in criminal activities.
