The Kenya Communication Sports Organisation (KECOSO) Governing Council has  announced Narok County as the host of the 42nd edition of the KECOSO games scheduled for 19-26 August.

The annual  games will feature 12 sporting disciplines including athletics, golf, snooker, swimming, basketball, football, darts, pool,scrabble, volleyball, netball, and table tennis.

According to KECOSO General Secretary and veteran broadcaster  Omole Asiko,Narok's choice was based on several parameters including hotel capacity to host
participants and officials, security and safety arrangements, county readiness
and commitment to host the games.

"We look forward to welcoming our member organisations, sponsors,participants, officials and guests to Narok County for this year’s edition of the games.This year,we expect a good number of teams and there will be stiff competition because the games keep getting interesting as times goes by.Teams are looking forward to impress in various events that will be showcased,” he said in a statement following  a KECOSO Governing Council preparatory meeting.

The previous edition which  took place in Kericho last year in September saw Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) being  crowned the football champions after collecting nine points while Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) came second with a similar number of points but inferior goal aggregate.

The games were making a comeback since 2019 due to Covid-19 pandemic with the last having been  held in Kisii County.

Established in 1978, KECOSO is a sports organization that brings together government agencies under the umbrella of the Ministry of Roads and Transport, Ministry Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, and the Ministry Sports, Culture and Heritage.

The key objectives of the games among others include  bringing sports closer to the people around the country and creating awareness on the services and products rendered by the member organizations; and promoting peaceful co-existence and national unity
through sports.
