Esports: 300 players to take part in eLigue1 tour qualifiers

A total of 300 players are expected to take in E Ligue 1 tour- an esports competition that will see Kenyan gamers battle for the one slot to participate in the global competition scheduled May 13th in Paris, France.
The Kenyan qualifiers are expected to be held on February 26th at Alliance Francaise, Nairobi. Eight players will proceed to the final round on March 11th where the player who will emerge as the winner will qualify for the global e Ligue 1 tour finals.
The Kenyan qualifiers are open to all gamers above the age of 16 with the participants below the age of 16 required to present parental consent.
‘’Last year we had a successful competition. we are looking forward to the better competition this time.I am calling on Kenyan gamers to seize this opportunity’’, Rony Lusigi, Index G CEO remarked.
He added; ‘’ This is an opportunity for Kenyan gamers to not only compete at the international level but to also enjoy a VIP experience of the Ligue 1 by watching global soccer superstars live in action’’.
While in France the Kenyan Champion will face competitors from 7 other countries including China, the Middle East region, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Latin, and North America.
At stake will be,8,000 Euros in winners cash prize with the overall winner clinching 4,000 Euros. Last year's winner Luony Teat aka Fox who did not travel for the finals in France last year following the late processing of his travel documents predicted a tough championship this year.
‘’I look forward to a great challenge this year. Last year we had good opponents in Kenya and this year I know it will be tough’’, Luol Teat said.
Elias Onchari who finished second in last year's edition of the Ligue 1 qualifiers will be banking on his Commonwealth games experience to dislodge Luony Teat.
‘’You never get such a chance to be able to carry the flag at your back and people expecting you to deliver is good pressure and I look forward to performing well this year’’ Said Elias.
Evander Maina aka Viera, a rising gamer who participated in the eglobal championship in Istanbul, Turkey, is another title hopeful who is rearing to go.
‘’It's not like it is assured but we are doing our respective training and routine every day and I am ready for the duel’’, Evander quipped.
