Omanyala sets new national 60m record in France

Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala recorded 6.55seconds to win the men’s race during the Mondeville Indoor Meeting in Paris, France.
In doing so Omanyala recorded a new national record over the distance lowering his previous mark of 6.57 seconds set in France in 2022.
Omanyala saw off Ivorian Arthur Cisse who timed 6.60 seconds to finish second.
Charles Dobson of the United Kingdom was third clocking 6.61secs.
"I am delighted of course. It was a fantastic race and this is exactly what I had wanted, to run below 6.60secs. It is a really great improvement and I am looking forward to do more," Omanyala said.
Omanyala had indicated that he was going for faster times in subsequent races and indeed he achieved that setting a new national record.
Omanyala now shifts his attention to the third indoor meet in Paris on Saturday.
