Golf: Kenyan players relish their chance at the European Ladies Tour

The forthcoming Kenya Ladies Open Golf Tournament, a leg of the European Ladies Tournament affords Kenyan players an opportunity to play at the highest level of the game.
The 2nd - 5th February tournament which will be held at the 18-hole PGA Baobab Course, Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi County has attracted a total of 96 world’s best female golfers and will see five Kenyan lady players also fight for the honors.
The Kenyan lady golfers include Naomi Wafula, Mercy Nyanchama, Nancy Wairimu, Chanelle Wangari, and Jacqueline Walters.
"The Magical Kenya Ladies Open is an important event for Kenyan women golfers. It gives us the opportunity to compete at a high level and prove that women can excel in professional sports," said Naomi Wafula, one of the Kenyan golfers participating in the tournament."
She added: “It is an important step in advancing the careers of Kenyan women golfers and I am honored to be a part of it. I am excited to compete with some of the best players in the world and to showcase my talents on the international stage. I look forward to representing my country and making a strong showing at this prestigious tournament."
Mercy Nyanchama, another golfer participating in the tournament, added, "The tournament serves as a symbol of hope and inspiration for young women looking to break into the sports industry. It shows that there is a place for them in the competitive world of professional sports,” she said.
“I believe that this tournament is a significant step forward for Kenyan women golfers. It provides a platform for us to showcase our talents and compete at the highest level. I am confident that this tournament will inspire the next generation of Kenyan female golfers to pursue their dreams and achieve great success in the sport," she added.
The tournament supported by EABL seeks to give Kenyan players a platform to compete with the best from the rest of the globe.

The tournament, part of the leg on the 39 series circuit, has attracted 96 professional lady golfers including defending champion German International, Esther Henseleit.
