Stars drop one place in latest FIFA rankings

By David Karanja

National soccer team Harambee Stars has dropped by one place, to position 116 according to the latest standings released by FIFA.

Kenya’s plunge down the grid could be attributed to its loss against Guinea Bissau in the Africa Cup of nation’s qualifier.

Harambee Stars’ drop could also be due to its inactivity in the month of April where they did not feature in any friendly since losing to Guinea Bissau in a Group ‘E’ 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Uganda is the best ranked east African team at position 72 while Rwanda remained static in position 87.

Burundi and Ethiopia occupy positions 122 and 123 respectively. Sudan and Tanzania moved a slot above to lie 128th and 129th respectively.

Argentina leads the global standings ahead of Belgium and Chile who are ranked second and third respectively.

Algeria and reigning African champions Ivory Coast are the top African teams.
