State given seven days to prosecute Mwendwa


The court has given the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP,  seven days to present charges against the ejected Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa.

The DPP had sort to detain Mwendwa for 14 days on allegations of fraud in connection with his dealings while at the helm of the country’s soccer governing body.

Senior Resident Magistrate Wandia Nyamu further directed that bond terms Issued against Mwendwa of 7 million and a cash bail of 4 million granted on Monday, be extended to the 25th of November.

‘’By the time the prosecution sought extension to detain the respondent the grounds of the notice of motion of application was sufficient to be on the holding charge for the respondent to be informed the reason of further detention the prosecution is given seven days to bring respondent to charge’’,the magistrate read the magistrate.

Mwendwa  is out on bond had earlier  been arrested on allegations of fraud. An affidavit presented by the DPP indicates a transfer of 8.5 Million and withdrawal of 29 million shillings undertaken by unauthorized signatories.

Through his lawyers,Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and Erick Mutua  Mwendwa condemned the manner in which the case has been handled with .

A meeting has been scheduled between Kenya and FIFA to resolve the FKF stalemate.
