Stolen truck with tonnes of sugar recovered in Limuru

By Emily Kenik

Police in Kiambu have recovered a truck which had been hijacked with 29 tonnes of sugar from Transmara.

Kiambu County Police Commander Adiel Nyange said the police received a distress call of a missing truck loaded with sugar and headed to Nairobi but the driver had diverted from his route to unknown direction.

According to the car track company, they acted swiftly and managed to get the abandoned lorry at Mutarakwa, Limuru.

The hijackers had plucked off the tracking device and mounted it to a van which was later dumped in a bush.

The police commander says the driver has been arrested on suspicion that he was working with the hijackers.
