Sukhdeep Singh to captain national men’s U-19 cricket team

Sikh Union all-rounder Sukhdeep Singh will captain the Kenya men’s national Under 19 cricket 14-man squad during the ICC Africa Cricket World Cup Qualifiers event set for Namibia, next month.

Cricket Kenya has announced the Kenya National Men’s Under-19 squad to participate in the Division one of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers tournament slated from the 15th through to 24th of next month in Windhoek, Namibia.

Six teams will compete for the single slot reserved for the Africa associate nations, with Kenya playing against neighbours Uganda and Tanzania, while the other three teams comprise of hosts Namibia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.

Kenya are the defending champions having won the 2017 edition when the event was hosted in Nairobi to qualify for the World Cup the following year.

The squad will be captained by Sikh Union all-rounder Sukhdeep Singh who’s the only surviving player from the 2018 World Cup squad and he will be hoping for a repeat performance during the qualifiers on away soil for the solitary ticket to the global event to be held in South Africa in 2020.

Among the other players selected in the squad are Shukan Mehta, Brij Patel, Francis Mutua and David Okaro.
