The dreams of a 14 year old girl  in Narok town of having a rosy academic future could have been cut short were it not for the intervention of police officers who moved with speed to rescue her.

Police in Narok County are holding a Primary school teacher after he allegedly defiled a 14 year old minor.

County Police Boss Abdi Galogalo says the teacher is said to have lured the girl to lodging before defiling her.

The girl who is an orphan is said to have been lured by primary school teacher to lodging, unaware of what her teacher had in mind.

Galgalo says the teacher was later arrested following a tipoff from members of the public and revealed that the suspect’s mission was to make the 14year old girl his wife.

Narok Sub-County Education Director Kuyo Ole Saoinah condemned the act, saying justice should be served for the affected girl.

Despite Kenya’s explicit protection of children in the country’s Bill of Rights, Narok County continues to have one of the highest rates of child abuse cases nationwide.

According to County Children Officer, the office receives a minimum of five child abuse cases every day.

The girl was taken to Narok referral hospital for medical examination. The teacher is later expected to be arraigned in court.

The story has elicited an outcry on Social media, with several public figures such as former presidential candidate Martha Karua condemning the incident and the trend in the area.
