Telkom ladies hockey team leaves for Africa Championships

By Buckley Fedha

Telkom Orange ladies hockey team left the country Wednesday for Zambia to represent the country at the Africa Cup of Club Championships which kicks off this Saturday.

Telkom Orange are the defending champions and have won the title since 2012 to date.

The Kenyan champions, who have been training for two months since October, will be looking to redeem themselves after missing out on an Olympic qualification spot when they finished 3rd at the qualifiers held in South Africa in October.

The defending champions, boosted to a tune of six million shillings Wednesday by Telkom Orange, will be going for their 4th consecutive continental title as they look to become the African champions for an 8th time in their history.

According to the head coach, JOS Openda, the team is psychologically and physically prepared for the championship and is looking forward to perform well at the event in Lusaka.
