Tergat endorsed for NOCK top office

Five time word cross country champion Paul Tergat has been endorsed for the National Olympic Committee of Kenya; NOCK Chairman’s position by nine federations.

Tergat will be vying for the top seat during the elections slated for the 5th of May this year. It’s barely one week after NOCK passed its reviewed constitution that locks out the current executive members from voting during the elections.

With only three weeks to go before the elections, various aspirants are already publicizing their bid for the top slots.

Tergat will be vying for the chairman’s post currently held by Dr. Kipchoge Keino who has been at the helm for over a decade.

The former world champion has been endorsed by nine sports bodies namely; Football Kenya Federation, Kenya Rugby Union, Kenya Judo Association, Kenya Hockey association and Kenya Tennis Association among others.

Meanwhile, Tergat has named ten NOCK members whom he would like to work with if voted in as the new chairman.

Other aspirants include; Shadrack Maluki of Kenya Judo association who will be vying for the seat of Vice chairman, Athletics Kenya chairman Retired Lieutenant General Jack Tuwei who will go for the position of second vice chair, Sifuna Shiveka who will be vying for the Treasurer’s seat and Andrew Mudibo of Kenya Table Tennis Federation who will go for the position of Secretary General
