The Kenya Film Commission calls for film entries for the Oscars

Kenyan filmmakers are urged to submit their films for the Oscars via the Kenya Film Commission.

Every year, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (The Oscars) invites countries to submit an official entry of what the individual countries consider as their best film projects. Here at home, The Kenya Film Commission is officially recognized by the Academy to set up an OSCARS Selection committee from industry associations and guilds, to make submissions for the Best International Feature Film Award on behalf of the Kenyan filmmakers.

Not only can the committee submit for International Feature, but they can submit a documentary and an animation to compete for Best Documentary and Best Animation Feature Awards respectively. Only one film is accepted from each country.

The committee is therefore making a call for submissions from Kenyan filmmakers. It will thereafter view and select a film project, be it a Feature Film, Documentary or Animation, that meets the set-out Academy rules and regulations and submit the same to the Academy.

To find out your eligibility, visit the Kenya Film Commission application page. Submissions should be handed in by hand delivery to the Kenya Film Commission offices, by 27th October 2020.

This edition will be the 93rd Oscars Awards and will take place on the 25th of April 2021 in Los Angeles, USA.

Good luck to all who submit. We’re rooting for you!
