Thika United scores late to beat Sofapaka 2-1

Edmond Adem scored a late goal as Thika United came from a goal down to beat Sofapaka 2-1 in a Kenyan Premier League match.

Sofapaka dominated the match was played at Thika Municipal stadium in the early stages before losing the tempo in a quiet first half.

Sofapaka opened the scoring two minutes into the second half after Kepha Aswani scored from Stephen Waruru brilliant headed pass.

Thika United were back on level terms ten minutes later after they were awarded a spot kick following a foul on Hansel Ochieng by goalkeeper Mathis Kigonya.

Mata Masakidi stepped up to calmly send Kigonya to the wrong way to net the equalizer.

And with eight minutes remaining, Thika United completed their comeback after substitute Edmond Adem header beat Kigonya to earn Thika their first win of the season.

In other matches, Vihiga United settled for a one all draw with Chemelil Sugar while Mathare United claimed a 1-0 win over Tusker Fc.

Bandari beat Ulinzi 1-0 while Sony Sugar settled for a 2-2 draw with Kariobangi Sharks.

KPL Champions Gor Mahia is not in action this weekend and will be hosting Supersport United from South Africa in a CAF, Confederations Cup match at the Machakos County, stadium on Sunday.
