Three bedroom house to cost Ksh 2M in new affordable housing project

A groundbreaking ceremony for 2,720 affordable housing units has been held at River Estate in Ngara, Nairobi County.

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko says the three-year project will see the construction of one and two bedroom houses under the big four housing agenda that would be sold at a maximum of 1.5 million shillings for a two bedroom unit.

Thousands of Kenyans are expected to benefit from the affordable housing units at the river estate in Nairobi whose groundbreaking was held Tuesday.

A one bedroom unit would be sold at one million shillings while the two-bedroom unit would cost 1.5 million shillings.

In July last year, the government launched a national housing project aimed at constructing half a million affordable housing units across the country by the year 2022.

Under the project, a bedsitter would be sold at 600,000 shillings while a three bedroom unit would cost 2 million shillings.

Mbuvi cautioned those who have encroached on road reserves as well as those on public land to vacate.
