Three nurses of Kenyatta National Hospital and one support staff were Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court over murder of a patient at the biggest referral hospital in East and Central Africa.

The cancer patient Cosmas Mutunga was killed on the 29th of November 2015 just three weeks after he was admitted at KNH.

Geoffrey Mureithi, Priscilla Wairimu, Rosemary Nkonge and Mary Muthoni are accused of having a hand in the brutal murder of the cancer patient.

The late Cosmas Mutunga who was 42 years then was admitted at KNH on November 8th and three weeks later he was found dead after being stabbed severally and his eye gouged out.

His right leg was also broken between the knee and the ankle.

The four workers who were on duty the night the patient was murdered denied the charges with the state opposed to their release saying that they are likely to interfere with investigations.

Tens of their colleagues camped at the court protesting the prosecution of the four.

Their bail application will be heard on the 31st of October.

The three female nurses were sent to custody at the Langata Women’s prison while Geoffrey Mureithi  acleaner is in industrial area police station.

Separately Jenniffer Wanjiru alias Mama Mwangi has been sentenced to death.

This is after she was found guilty by justice Jessie Lessit who delivered her verdict in a case where she reportedly murdered five people after selling to them illegal brew.

She was charged in 2011 for selling alcoholic drinks laced with ethanol and methanol which caused the death of the five people.

The defence team pleaded with the court that Wanjiru is a first offender suffering from Goitre and high blood pressure but justice Lessit said apart from causing deaths other victims were admitted to hospital and the damage on their lives still lives.

In Mombasa the embezzlement of public funds case against Ganze Constituency MP Peter Safari Shehe and seven others has been postponed.

The legislator alongside Christopher Otieno Nyerere, Daniel Chiwai Chiriba, Emmanuel Mwagambo Sang, Geoffrey Mweu Peter, Karisa Karabu and Mwakalala Karisa are accused of conspiracy to defraud Ganze CDF over 3.3 million shillings  for purported supply of water works and material to Rima Ra Pera borehole.

The case to be heard on the 12th of this month.
