Three siblings, Muqtadir, Khaaliqa and Ilyaseem Nimji scooped top honours at this year’s edition of the Annual KENGEN open squash tournament held at the Parklands Sports Club.

17 year old Muqtadir Nimji, who is also the current Kenya junior and national champion, won the Main Final after beating veteran professional player and also a former champion Ian Rukunya from Uganda 3-0 in a tightly contested match.

His 18 year old sister  Khaaliqa beat Elizabeth Mulwa  3-0 to take the Ladies title while his younger brother  Ilyassem won the under 11yrs category.

Speaking after the game, Muqtadir expressed his disappointment at how unpopular the sport is in the country as his sister Khaaliqa, who got a cash prize of 30, 000 shillings said she would wish for more ladies to enroll in the game.

Over 60 players participated in the one week event which attracted players from Kenya, Uganda and Netherlands.
