Tickets go on sale for ‘Top Gun’ sequel in Kenya

The sequel to the 1986 movie “Top Gun” comes 36 years after its original release.

Tickets are currently on sale for Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick set to premiere in Kenyan cinemas on May 27th. The movie is set to run for a week on IMAX screens until June 2nd.

Reprising his role as Pete Mitchell, Tom Cruise stars in this sequel as the cocky Navy pilot who has never risen through the ranks because of his penchant for bucking authority. Mitchell, whose code name is Maverick, is asked to train a group of young fighter pilots for a specialized mission.

Early box office projections estimate that the sequel will rank among the biggest box office hits for the month of June. The movie had originally been scheduled for release in June 2020, but distributor Paramount Pictures (PARA.O) delayed the release multiple times during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film also stars Jenniffer Connelly, Miles Teller, Monica Barbaro, Glen Powell, Ed Harris, Jon Hamm and more.
