Police are investigating the cause of a fire incident that burnt down the registry section of the ministry of mining in Nairobi, and a big chunk of Kibera’s Toi market Tuesday morning.
The cause of the fire that broke out at about 3am is yet to be known.
Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo said Police suspect arson as the cause of the fire.
Speaking when he visited the scene, Opposition leader Raila Odinga reassured the traders that the market will be fully reconstructed by the county government using the county emergency kitty.
He further said he will mobilize well-wishers to help with the reconstruction of the market.
At the same time, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has given an undertaking to the residents and traders at the market that the rebuilding exercise will commence immediately.
He issued a personal donation of five million shillings to the traders to help them restart their businesses.
