The Turkana County Government has set aside Ksh 20 million for this year’s Turkana cultural festival slated for the 25th -27th of next month.
Dubbed ‘Tobong’lore’ the festival is expected to attract 12,000 delegates drawn from communities in Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Uganda.
The three-day cultural festival will be held under the theme celebrating cultural heritage for tourism, peace, and regional development.
It is expected to champion for peace and development in the northern part of Kenya and neighboring nations.
About 12,000 delegates are expected to attend the three-day event to be hosted in Lodwar Town.
Turkana County CEC in charge of tourism Jennifer Nawoi says the festival will showcase the uniqueness of participating communities.
Dubbed ‘Tobong’lore’ meaning welcome back home, the festival is considered a perfect example for recognizing the social and economic benefits of culture.
