Two dead, houses torched in Narok retaliatory attacks

Two people have been killed, and several houses torched in a suspected retaliatory attack pitting two communities in Nkoben, Narok County.

Trouble is reported to have started following the killing of a herder on Wednesday during a banditry attack in which 90 goats were stolen.

Police have since launched investigations into the incident.

Tension remains high in Nkoben area following the early morning incident that left two people dead, 10 houses torched and several people homeless.

The embers from the fire still billowing telling the tale of what transpired here on Thursday morning.

The attack is alleged to be a revenge mission following the death of a herder during a banditry attack.

Others however say the attack was meant to force them out of their homes claiming they have been receiving threats to leave the area.

Anti riot police were forced to intervene to quell the tensions.

Narok north Deputy County Commissioner Ronald Mwiwawi cautioned against sparking ethnic tensions calling for calm as police investigate the death of the herder.

He also warned politicians against inciting the public
