Two killed, one injured in Kirinyaga accident

Two people were Sunday night killed while another was seriously injured in a road accident involving a police vehicle and boda boda in Kirinyaga County.

The boda boda which was carrying two passengers is said to have tried to overtake another car when it rammed into the oncoming police vehicle at Rwambiti area on the Kutus–Kianyaga road.

Gichugu Deputy OCPD Afred Ng’eno who confirmed the accident said the boda boda rider died on the spot, while one of the passengers succumbed to injuries at Kerugoya Hospital where the third victim is undergoing treatment.

Angry boda boda riders and locals torched the Kianyaga Police Station vehicle following the accident.

The Deputy OCPD says that a hunt has been launched for the locals who set the police car on fire.
