Two suspected drug traffickers arrested with sacks of marijuana

Two Suspected drug traffickers have been arrested while transporting sacks of Cannabis Sativa (Marijuana) worth millions of shillings to Nairobi from Namanga.

The two suspects Samuel Kimani Macharia and Peter Mwangi were arrested Wednesday morning by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Transnational Organized Crime Unit detectives.

The police seized the marijuana and impounded a motor vehicle Reg No. KCD 808N.

Police say the two suspects will be arraigned in court on Thursday to face charges of Trafficking in Narcotic drugs contrary to section 4(a) of the Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances (control) Act No. 4 of 1994.

Last month, a notorious drug trafficker who has been operating with impunity in Nairobi was also arrested.

The suspect Tom Ouma Aero is also believed to sponsor gangs in Korogocho, Huruma and Dandora to protect his business of drug trafficking.

DCI Director George Kinoti said his arrest was in connection with the seizure of 368.5 kilograms of cannabis sativa valued at over ksh 11M.

Nabbed also during the operation were two of his associates namely Paul Ochieng Otieno and Stephen Wandera Barasa.

Meanwhile, three individuals who had earlier bundled a lady victim into their run away vehicle Registration No. KBS 350W have been arrested by detectives based at Narok County.

The DCI in their twitter handle say the three suspects namely Rose Waithera, Jackson kamau and Julius Guchu were arrested at Siyapei area where they hid in a thicket after abandoning their run away vehicle.

The victim’s personal belongings including a mobile phone and money that she had earlier on withdrawn from the bank have been recovered and kept as exhibits pending their arraignment.

Also, after initiating fresh investigations into the gruesome murder of Julia Ntheeru Kabura aged 85, that occurred 7 years ago at Igembe, Meru County, DCI Homicide detectives have finally arrested her suspected killer.

The suspect will be arraigned today (Tuesday) in Meru Law Courts for custodial orders to complete police investigations and later charge him with murder.

DCI says that during the fresh probe that included incorporating modern technology in site analysis and DNA sampling, it was established that the deceased was murdered by her house boy namely Samuel Gathogo Miano, who was arrested on Tuesday in Mathira.
