Police in Athi River have arrested two women for child trafficking in Mlolongo area Machakos County.
Diana mwende and her accomplice were arrested while in the process of selling a 2 weeks old male infant for sixty thousand shillings.
Mlolongo Division Assistant County Commissioner Dennis Ongaga said they laid a trap for the two women after a tip off from the public.
The officers then posed as customers who wanted to buy the baby boy before arresting the two.
The women are now being held at Mlolongo Police Station as investigations continue while the infant was handed over to a rescue center in Kitengela.
Ongaga said police investigations have revealed that girls aged below 18 years are also involved in the business where their peers are said to be women above the 30 years.
He said this is the second time such a case has been reported in Mlolongo this year.
