UDA candidates urge IEBC to ensure election is free and fair

A section of United Democratic Alliance party candidates have sought assurance from the electoral commission that the Tuesday poll will be free and fair.

The candidates have urged the Commission to ensure all loopholes that could jeopardise the credibility of the election are sealed.

Speaking in Kirinyaga county led by Governor Ann Waiguru, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, the candidates lauded the residents of Kirinyaga for remaining peaceful during campaigns and called on the IEBC to carry out its mandate in accordance with the law.

This even as they raised the red flag claiming the State is planning to manipulate the election in some Counties.

They have now urged IEBC to heighten vigilance in polling stations and tally centers saying the credibility of the election is squarely on their shoulders.

This even as the distribution of exercise materials to polling stations continued without hitch and still ongoing in some Constituencies.

Ndia constituency Returning Officer Francis Njogu said they all is set for the elections confirming that polling stations will open tomorrow at 6am.

His sentiments were echoed by Ndia Sub County Commander David Kabena who said they have made necessary arrangements in terms of security.

“We have 20 security officers at the tallying center, 268 officers across 134 stations. Every polling station has two personnel,” He said.
