By Beth Nyaga
President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed into law three Bills passed by Parliament.

The Bills are the Public Audit Bill 2015, the Government Proceedings (Amendment) Act 2015 and the Public Procurement and Assets Disposal Act 2015.

The Public Audit Act aligns the functions and powers of the Auditor-General to the Constitution.

The Act defines the roles of the Auditor General in undertaking audit activities in state organs and public entities to ensure prudent use of public money in conformity with the Authority to Incur Expenditure (A.I.Es).

The office will also ensure reasonable precautions to safeguard revenue collection, acquisition, receipt, issuance and proper management of assets and liabilities.

The Government Proceedings (Amendment) Act modifies Section 21 on Satisfaction of orders against the Government to include county governments.

The Public Procurement and Assets Disposal Act 2015 gives effect to article 227 of the Constitution on efficiency and defines the roles of regulatory bodies.
