University student and a soldier among 5 abductors’ arrested

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested five people for kidnapping and rescued three victims.

Among those arrested in Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate on Monday night is a Kenya Defense Forces officer Mohamed Sharmake Abdi of Kahawa Barracks  and alongside Abdi Hamid – a student at the Kenya Methodist University.

Others arrested at Eastleigh are Abdikalif Mohammed Noor, Ahmed Abdullahi Abdi – driver, and Salah Abdi.

DCI says on its twitter handle that the suspects were demanding Sh5, 000 to release the three abductees, whom they had held hostage in a car, before they were arrested.

The suspects will be arraigned in court on today (Tuesday).
