Volleyball queens take on Egypt in Rio qualifier

By David Karanja

Reigning African volleyball queens Kenya will take on archrivals Egypt Monday in the semifinals of the ongoing 2016 Rio Olympic qualifiers in Yaoundé Cameroon.

Kenya advanced to the semifinals after topping pool ‘A’ that had hosts Cameroon and Tunisia.

The team under Head coach Japeth Munala saw off Tunisia by three straight sets in their opening match before defeating hosts Cameroon by three sets to one in their final group match.

Algeria will take on Cameroon in the second semifinal.

The winner of the tournament will bag the sole ticket to represent Africa in the Rio Olympic games slated for August this year.
