Waruguru defends Muturi’s move to join Kenya Kwanza Alliance

Laikipia County Women Representative Catherine Waruguru has defended National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi’s move to join Kenya Kwanza coalition that is allied to Deputy President Dr William Ruto.

Speaking in Nanyuki where she was campaigning to be nominated as Laikipia East MP in UDA nominations slated for Thursday this week, Waruguru dared Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni to impeach Muturi noting the move would be a blow to Jubilee party.

“I want to tell Jubilee MPs led by Kioni that his plans on impeaching the Speaker, will fail, she said adding, “we elected Justin Muturi as the Speaker and we shall safeguard him.”

The Woman Rep decried the high cost of living and urged her supporters to elect her in UDA ticket nominations for a change.

Muturi who is also the Democratic Party (DP) leader inked the agreement of joining Kenya Kwanza on Saturday, April 9 at a hotel in Nairobi.

Muturi, who had earlier revealed that he would run for presidency on the August 9 poll as an independent candidate, said he decided on joining Kenya Kwanza after wider consultations with his DP party supporters.

Meanwhile, Waruguru who spent the better part of Tuesday traversing through the county to rally for support, will be contesting for UDA tickets on Thursday with current MP Mohamend Dedy who is seeking re-election in this year’s general election.

Laikipia West MP Patrick Mariru and former county governor Joshua Irungu who are both vying for governorship will also be contesting for UDA nomination ticket to vie for August 9 poll on Thursday.
