A section of West Pokot County Assembly members have given Speaker Catherine Mukenyang a one-week ultimatum to either resign or face impeachment.
The MCAs have accused the speaker of being partisan and failing to execute her leadership roles at the County.
According to the MCAs, some of the County Assembly employees have not yet received their salaries since June after she suspended the Clerk of the County Assembly over corruption allegations.
Speaker Mukenyang is accused of suspending County Assembly employees and replacing them with unqualified junior officers, a move that has led to some staff missing their salaries.
They have also called on the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission to probe the Speaker on awarding tenders illegally.
The leaders led by Suam MCA Robert Komole who strongly condemned the unlawful and unnecessary reshuffles and accused her of engaging in early politics.
On her side, County Assembly Catherine Mukenyang dismissed the allegations terming it witch-hunt saying that she operates within the law hence she won’t resign.
