Featuring Uganda’s infamous Idi Amin.
Narrated by Game of Thrones alum Peter Dinklage, this new Netflix docu-series is a 30-minute explainer on how to become a tyrant featuring some of the world’s top despots; Idi Amin, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong, Muammar Gaddafi, Kim II-Sung and Saddam Hussein.
Taking on a sardonic tone, How to Become a Tyrant gives instructional information that translates into a step-by-step guide for aspiring dictators interspersed with archival footage featuring the world’s top infamous stars. Each episode explains how each of them seized power and held on to it.
With amazing animation done by Six Point Harness, the series shows in glorious detail all the gory atrocities committed by all seven featured dictators. Among them, Uganda’s Idi Amin Dada, who is considered one of the most brutal despots in world history.
Explaining the tone of the documentary, the executive producer Bell Pasht, co-founder of Citizen Jones said, “The world knows these men and what they have done, and to examine their steps to terrifying power we knew we had to find a unique approach and tone. Animation was critical to that.”
The show premiered on Netflix on July 9th and is currently streaming around the world.
