‘Why U Hate’ to screen at iHub with cast in attendance

The screening is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27th.

MyMovies.Africa is scheduled to screen the Kenyan movie Why U Hate at the iHub premises on Ngong Road on Wednesday, July 27th from 6 Pm to 9 PM. The screening event will include a Q&A session with the cast and crew of the movie.

Produced by Dreamhouse Entertainment, Why U Hate revolves around Kwami (Bernard Irungu), who after years of patiently working in the city and saving money, flees to his rural home leaving a trail of bodies behind him and evading the bounty placed on his head.

The move comes days after MyMovies.Africa™ and the Creative Economy Practice (CEP)  signed a partnership offering the streaming platform exclusive rights to use the iHUB Nairobi premises to stream Kenyan movies via its online platform. This is part of the platform’s goal of supporting Kenyan creatives and filmmakers and encouraging a cinema-going culture specifically for Kenyan films.

The Kenyan Film Commission is also a collaborator and supporter of the initiative. Timothy Owase, KFC Chief Executive Officer, said this of the campaign.

“We’re very excited about where the film and content industries of Africa are headed! From the storytelling to the new technologies and to the new entrants like MyMovies.Africa™. This partnership between MyMovies.Africa™ and CEP is a big boost to the creative industry which will ensure continuity and growth of the ecosystem required for sustainability.”

The event on Wednesday will be part of phase 1 of the campaign and the first of similar planned screenings.
